Amsterdam: ‘Boom Chicago’ English Comedy Show

2.‘Boom Chicago’ English Comedy Show

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 213 reviews · 2 hours · from $29

Spend an evening at Boom Chicago, Amsterdam’s long-running English-language comedy club. Expect fast improv, sketch comedy, songs made up on the spot, and audience suggestions. Friday and Saturday bring a 10:15 PM stand-up show, while Sunday offers a shorter 75-minute performance.

“Absolutely amazing show, I have recommended to so many people since going. It’s a proper show rather than a few comedians with a microphone. There is table service on the ground floor and standard seating upstairs on the mezzanine. The team get the whole crowd involved shouting answers which is fun but they don’t pick on anyone which is what we were worried about as first time comedy show goers.”

3.English Comedy Show Amsterdam: Boom Chicago

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 112 reviews · 2 hours (approx.) · from $27Best value

Spend about two hours at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam’s Jordaan district for an English-language comedy show blending sharp writing, quick improv, music, and audience suggestions. Choose from available shows and times, then buy beer, wine, or cocktails at the bar. The ticket covers admission, not drinks or food.

“Excellent venue and potential for a good show. However, the night we saw it we thought the comedy was hit out miss. It was like they were trying hard but often not quite hitting the mark. Might have gotten better after the intermission, but we left then and didn't see the remainder of the show.”

“De show was prima. Eten daarentegen viel tegen.

8.Amsterdam Magic Show: Things That Make You Go Huh

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 19 reviews · 2 to 3 hours (approx.) · from $36

At Amsterdam Magic Show: Things That Make You Go Huh, you’ll see five or six European magicians perform short acts ranging from floating tables to comic card work. Arrive at 7:30 p.m. for 30 minutes of close-up magic, then enjoy a two-hour stage show and optional after-party.

“booked the magic stage show as a birthday treat for my companion. the show was held in a local community space which was fine except that I would have been grateful to have known about the steep stairs involved. Luckily we explained our difficulty and were given the chance to go ahead of others in the audience so we could take our time using the stairs. The whole show was a wonderful evening of magic, both close up and on stage, and was quick, funny and very professional. We would certainly come again. Miss this gem at your peril!”
